Council of Affiliated Menopause Societies (CAMS)
CAMS is one of the Organs of the International Menopause Society. It was created to provide a democratic forum with equal membership and voting rights for all national societies affiliated with the IMS. The controlling committee of the IMS (the Board), by virtue of its limited size, could not have a member from every country. CAMS, on the other hand, irrespective of the size or number of members of a national or regional society, allows one member from each onto its Board.
Membership of CAMS
At the CAMS General Assembly at the 11th World Congress in Buenos Aires, October 2005, the members agreed that member countries should no longer pay annual membership fees. Membership is thus open to any national or regional menopause society that has been accepted for affiliation to the IMS. Enquiries concerning the criteria for affiliation should be addressed to the Executive Director.
Each member society of CAMS is represented on the Council by its appointed delegate, with each society having one delegate, however large or small that society is. Each delegate has one vote in decisions made by the Council. The Council meets in person at least once every 3 years, at the World Congress, and it is hoped to plan additional meetings between the Congresses.
