Anne Alice Gompel

Born SALOMON in Paris, 1952, 26th January. MD, PhD

She is a Professor of Medical Gynecology, Head of the Gynecological Unit at Hôtel-Dieu Hospital in Paris and Professor at Université Paris Descartes. She also belongs to the UMRS 938 INSERM. She was trained in endocrinology, medical gynecology and received a MD from Paris University in 1981 and a PhD in 1987. She got a specialization in Endocrinology and Medical Gynecology in 1981. She was assistant in the group of Mr. P.Mauvais-Jarvis from 1981–1989, senior researcher in INSERM 1989–1990, associate Professor in the department of OBGYN handled by Pr Poitout 1990–99 and Full Professor thereafter; She became the Head of the medical gynecology Unit at Hôtel-Dieu Hospital in 2003.

During all these years she has developed some biological research on breast cells and hormones focusing on the role of Progesterone and progestins on normal and breast cancer cells. This research was mostly conducted at INSERM. Some clinical research on Hormones and the Vascular risk, Endometriosis and more recently belongs to a National «Centre de Référence» for Hereditary Angioedema.

She also had a long activity of expert and member of the committee at the Regulatory Agencies for drugs in France (1990–2007), Agence française de sécurité sanitaires des produits de santé”(AFSSAPS) and at the Transparence (HAS°).

She has National responsibilities in the Academic life of the speciality as the General Secretary of the »National College of Professors of Medical Gynecology», President of Collégiale of Medical Gynecology-Paris/Ile de France, member of the Board of the National College of Reproduction, Development and Medical Gynecology.

She has published extensively in the fields of menopause, contraception, and breast cancer. She is on the Editorial Board of Climacteric, Maturitas and Menopause International. She is an ad hoc reviewer for Fertility and Sterility, the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Maturitas, Climacteric, European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology, Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism.

She has contributed to various French and International Societies in the field of Menopause, Endocrinology and Senology: Member of Société Française d'endocrinologie (from 1987), Member of the American Society of Endocrinology (from 1990), Member of EMAS (from 1999); Member of IMS (from 2005); Member of the AACR (from 2002); Member of the Board of Société Française de Sénologie et Pathologie Mammaire; Member of the Board of GEMVI; Past-President of «Société de Médecine de la Reproduction»; Treasurer of EMAS (2003–2006 and 2006–2009); Member of the IMS Board (2008–2014)

She has been a speaker, and participated to the Organisation of National and International meetings as vice president of SMR since 1999 and as treasurer of EMAS, member of the IMS board. She has been involved in Educational tasks (EMAS school) during her service as an officer in EMAS and in Societies statements in the field of Menopause and Gynecology.
