Peter ChedrauiPeter Chedraui, MD, MSc

Obstetrician and Gynecologist currently Director of the Institute of  Biomedicine and Molecular Laboratory of the Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil, Ecuador. Associate professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the same University and Medical Staff member of the Enrique C. Sotomayor  Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital. Member of several National and International Scientific Societies with more than 80 peer-reviewed publications. He is currently President of the Ecuadorian Climacteric and Menopause Society (Guayas Branch), garnishing multiple grants from the Universidad Católica, Pharmaceutical enterprises and private  foundations. In addition, is currently an active research collaborator  for several international joint efforts. Dr. Chedraui’s  primary research interests are molecular biology of preeclampsia and preterm birth and their impact of adult female health, the epidemiology of the menopause and healthcare issues of mid-aged women.
Close links with key colleagues in other countries, particularly in Latin America, would certainly enhance the role of  IMS in developing countries. This will help IMS and its members appreciate the particular needs and clinical issues of women from Latin America.  As elected board member his desire is to support the mission of IMS with focus on research and education in developing countries. In addition to continue supporting research initiatives of Latin American colleagues in relation to women’s health and needs.
