Sven Skouby

Victor W. Henderson

Victor Henderson is professor of Health Research & Policy and of Neurology & Neurological Sciences at Stanford University, in Stanford, California, USA.  He is chief of the division of epidemiology and chairs the graduate program in clinical epidemiology.  Major research interests focus on prevention and treatment of age-related cognitive decline and dementia, particularly in the context of adult women’s health.  As a member of the IMS board, Professor Henderson’s goal is to help advance information, education, and research on women’s health in midlife and beyond, bringing to bear his particular expertise in epidemiology, aging, women’s health, and brain disorders.

Professional background

Menopause and women’s health.  International Menopause Society: IMS board (2011- ) and general secretary-elect (2012- ); treasurer of the council of affiliated menopause societies (2008-11).  North American Menopause Society: President (2007-08), treasurer (2005-06), and 2007 scientific program committee chair; board of trustees (2002-09) and foundation board of trustees (2007-08).

Neurology and cognitive aging.  Section chair (2008-11) and executive committee (2002- ), Geriatric Neurology section of the American Academy of Neurology.  President (1990-91), Los Angeles Society of Neurological Sciences.

Prior faculty positions.  University of Southern California: Kenneth and Bette Volk endowed professorship; professor of neurology, gerontology, and psychology; chief, division of cognitive neuroscience and aging.  University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences: Professor of geriatrics, neurology, and epidemiology; vice-chair for cognitive disorders.
