History Of IMS
- COMING SOON -
READ ABOUT THE EARLY HISTORY OF THE INTERNATIONAL MENOPAUSE SOCIETY (IMS), FROM THE MEETING OF A GROUP OF MENOPAUSOLOGISTS AT THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS ON MENOPAUSE IN SOUTHERN FRANCE IN 1976, TO THE FOUNDATION OF THE SOCIETY IN 1978 AT THE SECOND INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS IN JERUSALEM, AND THE SUBSEQUENT DEVELOPMENT INTO THE GLOBAL SOCIETY THAT WE NOW KNOW. SINCE ITS FOUNDATION, NUMEROUS NATIONAL AND REGIONAL MENOPAUSE SOCIETIES HAVE BEEN FORMED, MANY OF WHICH ARE AFFILIATED TO THE IMS AND ARE MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL OF AFFILIATED MENOPAUSE SOCIETIES, A SUB ORGAN OF THE IMS.
Follow the history of the IMS from its small beginnings to the present day, including the development of the World Congresses, the contributions of the many personalities who have made the Society what it is, and the gestation and growth of the Society’s own journal, Climacteric.
The History of IMS is currently being compiled by Jean Wright, former Executive Director of IMS and the current Managing Editor of our peer reviewed Journal, Climacteric and will appear here when complete.
At the recent IMS World Congress, held in Prague in September 2016, IMS President, Rodney Baber, dedicated his Peter Van Keep lecture to the history of the IMS. Please click here to see the slides he used for the presentation.
