Professor Sunila Khandelwal MS (GYNAE), FICOG, FICMCH, FICS is the Director of Midlife Women Health Care & Menopause Centre, working as Senior Consultant in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Fortis Escorts Hospital, Jaipur, India. She has rich clinical and academic experience of over 35 years, worked as Professor & Head, Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology Mahatma Gandhi Medical College & Hospital, Jaipur. She has also shown her administrative capabilities as Medical Superintendent. She received her Medical degree and Master’s degree from Sawai Mansingh Medical College, Jaipur and was appointed as faculty in her parent Institution in 1982.

Her various Professional Positions and Peer Recognitions in Societies/organizations both Internationally and Nationally, given her confidence and popularity as a leader. Being the active member she could do extensive Networking with esteemed organizations (IMS, BMS, NAMS, EMAS, SAFOMS, APMF, FIGO).

Dr. Sunila is the Pioneer of First Menopause Clinic in Rajasthan, (1997) and established first HRT research unit in India with foundation of first chapter of IMS, Created modules for GPs and Medical Students on “Mid-life women health curriculum and Management of Menopause”, in use across the country (more than 500 Medical Institutions), Inducted Credentialed Indian Menopause Practitioner Exam (CIMP) and organized1st convocation.

She is the Founder Editor “Journal of Midlife Health” (JMH) and Member of Scientific Advisory Board of various Journals of high impact factor. She has Published Several Scientific papers on menopausal health care modalities, menopausal medicine, contributed chapters, peer reviewed publications and co-author of Clinical Practice Guidelines of Indian Menopause Society.

Dr. Khandelwal received Advanced training of Menopause Management (Detroit), Laparoscopy (Stanford) U.S.A. and Lectured Widely as invited Speaker, chaired session, delivered orations at National and International Platforms (USA, Europe, Asia). Organized various Scientific CME, workshops and national/ international Conferences.

She is proud recipient of various awards – Times of India National Award for “Best Gynaecologist” of Rajasthan, Rajasthan’s “Woman of Substance Award” from DNA, The “Distinguished Alumni Award” of SMS Medical College, Jaipur,”GuniJan” state level award, International Jain and Vaishya organization award, “Women of the Future” FICCI Award, for her academic achievements, clinical Skills and social woman health services rendered. Recently honoured the “AWARD OF EXCELLANCE” by international Menopause Society for her remarkable role of Sec Gen CAMS.

In the area of Social Healthcare Services, Dr Sunila has culminated her skills to serve the poor and aging population and improving health care system. For the comprehensive wellbeing of elderly Indian women, she developed risk Score tools for bone health, cancers and heart disease, set Protocols and WHQ, for assessment and promoted management on evidence based medicine. She has contributed several articles in health columns of leading Newspapers and delivered T.V. programs (National and State level broadcasts), released women health education CDs, leaflets, posters and Booklet on “Stay Healthy After 40”. She is regularly organizing public awareness exhibitions and Video film shows for solving problems and clearing myths linked to menopause. With the help of NGO’s holding regularly free Rural and Urban camps and mature women support sessions for research data collection, screening (cancer, CAD, Obesity, Osteoporosis) and counselling. Being the executive producer of IMS documentary Film- “Sumangla” and initiating magazine “POISE”, she could bring a positive change in women to age gracefully.

As Past President IMS, Representative of Indian Menopause Society for 3 years and Secretary General CAMS, International Menopause Society, she received applause for her dedicated work in assigned areas of Translations of leaflets and developing posters for world menopause month drive annually on international theme. Appreciations for incredible effective yearly campaign were highlighted in “our menopause world” Newsletter, on the IMS website, CAMS network website and has attracted lot of attention.  She has written Commentaries for “Menopause Live” and also served as abstract reviewer for world congress. She has participated in workshop for Global consensus on HRT and also in APMF collaborative project on NCD’s. She has efficiently acted as ambassador for world congress to attract maximum participation, raised memberships and also successfully organised member country sessions for IMS India in world congress of IMS, APMF, EMAS and SAFOMS Conferences, for exchanging experiences and updating knowledge. She has also successfully represented India in Asia Pacific Menopause Federation.

As Member of Board of Trustees (2016-18), worked to diffuse IMS work across the world by her clinical, research, organizational skills with effective networking. Being passionate about Mid-life women health care, her dedicated efforts for spreading mature women health awareness through educational activities, specifically in developing countries, she strives to expand the influence of IMS globally.

Currently as Treasurer IMS (2018-20) her goal is to strengthen the organization together with other executives by keeping vigilance on financial integrity and ensure its viability for society’s affairs as per rules.
