The International Menopause Society (IMS) established the Council of Affiliated Menopause Societies (CAMS) to support the delivery of the society’s Mission and Vision. CAMS is comprised of national and regional menopause societies. CAMS also provides support to establish menopause societies in areas where there are none.

CAMS has the following objectives:

  1. To establish connectivity and partnership working across the national and regional menopause societies and with the IMS.
  2. To actively engage in the delivery of IMS educational activities, events and World Congress, to support the development of new initiatives, and to encourage membership of the IMS within their country/region.

Duru Shah

CAMS Chair

Dr. Duru Shah is the Director of Gynaecworld, the “CENTER for Women’s Health & Fertility”. She is currently the Founding President of the “The PCOS Society” (India), the Chair of the Council of Affiliated Menopause Societies (CAMS), IMS and the Chair of the “Metropolis Foundation”. She is a Member of the Board of Asia Pacific Initiative on Reproduction (ASPIRE). As she is passionate about women’s health, she is the current Chair of the “Metropolis” Foundation which is run by her family for empowering the youth of India especially girls and women.

Dr. Shah has occupied the highest position in the field of Obs. & Gyn. in India as the President of Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecological Societies of India, (FOGSI), she has been the President of “The Indian Menopause Society”, the “Chair of the Indian College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists (ICOG)” and the “President of the Indian Society for Assisted Reproduction (ISAR)”. On the International front, she served as a Member of the Ethics Committee of FIGO for 6 years between 2010-2016 and has also been the “Director of Digital Education”, the “Chair of the IMPART Program” and a member of the Board of The International Menopause Society for 8 years between 2012- 2019. She is the immediate past Chair of the “ASPIRE Special Interest Group (SIG) on Reproductive Endocrinology & PCOS, and has been the International Advisor of ESHRE’s Special Interest Group “Safety & Quality in ART” (SQART).

Dr. Shah’s areas of interest are Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally and created excellent academic programs for postgraduate students and clinicians in the field of PCOS, Menopause and Assisted Reproduction. Dr. Shah is a Member on the Editorial Board of various International and National Journals.

Dr. Shah has been the proud recipient of many Orations, Awards and Honours, the most prominent being the “FIGO-Distinguished Merit Award” being the first and only Indian Recipient of this Prestigious Award and has been conferred the “Honorary Fellowship of the Royal College of Obstetrics & Gynecology”. She received the “Mahatma Award 2021” for Social Responsibilities and Gender Equality and she has been conferred with the Life time Achievement Awards for excellence in the field of Infertility and women’s health by ISAR and FOGSI in 2021.


Antonio Cano

CAMS Co-Chair

Antonio Cano is full Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Valencia, Spain. He graduated from the University of Valencia and received his doctorate as a scholar at the Royal Spanish College in the University of Bologna. He is a postdoctoral fellow of the British Council of the Imperial Cancer Research Fund in London, UK.

He has a personal interest in reproductive endocrinology research and is author of several books and around four hundred articles written in English and Spanish. He is a member of the Board of ISGE, is on the editorial board of various journals and is Past President of the European Menopause and Andropause Society (EMAS).


M. Fidel Ganis Siregar

CAMS Co-Chair

Professor M. Fidel Ganis Siregar is President of Asia-Pacific Menopause Federation (APMF). He is currently on the Executive Board of the Indonesian College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Executive Board of the Association for Reproductive Immuno-Endocrinology and Fertility of Indonesia, the Advisory Council of the Indonesian Society of Menopause, and the Advisory Council of the Indonesian Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Professor Fidel has succeeded in occupying the highest position in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He was President of the Indonesian Society of Menopause for 5 years between 2017-2022 and in his leadership, the organization was actively involved in all menopause activities to optimize individual and societal health and wellbeing of menopause and middle-aged women in Indonesia. As the current president of the Asia Pacific Menopause Federation (APMF), his interest in increasing the awareness and to collaborate and share knowledge about all aspects of aging in women around the world who are geographically, culturally, and politically diverse. He has been a part of International Menopause Society (IMS), International Society of Gynecological Endocrinology (ISGE), and International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG).

In addition, he is also the Head of the Study Program in Obstetrics & Gynecology Subspecialty in the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara. He has been actively mentoring specialist and subspecialist candidates in both research as well as career development with several of them winning awards at both local and international congresses. From 2009–2016, he was given an additional assignment as Secretary of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, and from March 2016–2021 had additional duties as Vice Chancellor for Human Resources and Finance at the University Sumatera Utara. He is now General Executive Secretary of Universitas Sumatera Utara.

Active in conducting research, publishing in scientific journals and being a scientific speaker both nationally and internationally in the fields of Gynecology, Endocrinology and Reproductive Health, especially regarding Menopause Women’s Health. He owns eight Intellectual copyrights and two Patents which are registered by the Indonesia Ministry of Law and Human Rights. Author of numbered studies, thirty-four of which are indexed by Scopus. In the last eight years, he has produced seven books, and has been involved in more than thirteen activities of Universitas Sumatera Utara Community Service. In 2013 he received the International Asia Pacific Menopause Federation (APMF) TG Award, at the 5th Scientific Meeting of APMF, Tokyo – Japan, he has been both the winner of the Outstanding Lecturer Award from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara and The Runner Up. In 2014 and 2019 he received The Satya Lencana Karya Satya awards (20 and 30 Years of Honour to serve the country) from the President of the Republic of Indonesia.
