CAMS has the following objectives:

  1. To establish connectivity and partnership working across the national and regional menopause societies and with the IMS.
  2. To actively engage in the delivery of IMS educational activities, events and World Congress, to support the development of new initiatives, and to encourage membership to the IMS within their country/region.

About SOCHICLIM

The Chilean Society of Climacteric, SOCHICLIM, was founded in 1992, born out of the need to address climacteric and menopause issues in Chile more specifically and scientifically. Since its inception, the society has been dedicated to promoting the study and treatment of climacteric in a comprehensive way, providing continuous medical education to professionals and organizing activities to raise awareness among women over 40.

Objectives and Activities

Since its creation, SOCHICLIM has set objectives:

  • Promoting the study and research of climacteric and menopause, supporting the training of specialists in the field.
  • Disseminating knowledge through congresses, seminars, and scientific sessions, where the latest advances in treatments and therapeutic approaches are discussed annually.
  • Promoting public health by educating the population on the importance of care during climacteric and providing guidelines on medical treatments and lifestyle options.

Contributions to Society

SOCHICLIM has played a crucial role in raising awareness about climacteric in Chilean society, collaborating with public and private organizations to improve the quality of life of women during this stage. It has been fundamental in creating clinical guidelines and  continuously updating health professionals on best practices in climacteric treatment. Additionally, the society has maintained an active presence in international congresses, such as the International Menopause Society (IMS) Congress, the European Menopause and Andropause Society (EMAS) Congress, and the Latin American Federation of Climacteric Societies (FLASCYM) Congress, where it has shared experiences and knowledge with the global scientific community.

Impact

The impact of SOCHICLIM in Chile has been reflected in a greater awareness of the importance of addressing climacteric not only as a biological process but also as a phenomenon with social and psychological implications. Thanks to its work, more and more women in Chile have access to information and specialized care during this stage of life. In summary, the Chilean Society of Climacteric has been and continues to be an important pillar in Chilean medicine, contributing to the well-being of women in the country and fostering the advancement of scientific knowledge around climacteric and menopause.
