The International Menopause Society (IMS) established the Council of Affiliated Menopause Societies (CAMS) to support the delivery of the Society’s Mission and Vision. CAMS is comprised of national and regional menopause societies. CAMS also provides support to establish menopause societies in areas where there are none.

CAMS has the following objectives:

  1. To establish connectivity and partnership working across the national and regional menopause societies and with the IMS.
  2. To actively engage in the delivery of IMS educational activities, events and World Congress, to support the development of new initiatives, and to encourage membership to the IMS within their country/region.

About Magyar Menopausa Társaság

The Hungarian Menopause Society (HMS) was founded in 1995; it now has 330 members. The main goals of the Society are to expand knowledge in menopausal medicine, improve the quality of life of women in menopausal transition, treat menopausal women through the national network of Menopausal Outpatient Units, cultivate connections to interested national societies on the frontiers of menopausal medicine, as well as international scientific organizations, like IMS. Connections to non-professional organizations and societal education of menopausal issues are also within the scope of our mission. The society provides financial support for research and publication activity of members.

The Society has a multilevel and multidisciplinary structure: our member are MDs, physiotherapists, nurses, midwives, and assistants in the menopause clinics. Most of our members are gynecologists, but many specialists including endocrinology, urology, rheumatology, psychology, oncology, internal medicine, and cardiology are involved. A smaller group deals with complementary medicine (phytoestrogens, herbal medicine, soy) within the society. A good variety of formulations of menopausal hormone therapy and for osteoporosis are available in Hungary, with different health care subsidies.

Biennial national congresses are held in cooperation with the Hungarian Society of Gynecological Endocrinology covering all issues of the wide spectrum of female reproductive health. These events also serve as postgraduate education (CME credits). We have thematic scientific meetings twice a year and the Society regularly organizes invited sessions on conferences of other societies, like osteoporosis, endocrinology, hypertension, etc., as well as taking part in media events and social activities.

The website of HMS (in Hungarian, www.mmt.hu) is kept updated and several e-newsletters are sent to the members every year to maintain communication between congresses.
