There is a scarcity of research on menopause and its effects on health and quality of life in midlife women in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). There is also very little information on either menopause knowledge in midlife women in these countries, or the availability and use of medication and other treatments for dealing with menopausal symptoms in poorly resourced environments. Climacteric, the official journal of the International Menopause Society, will therefore be publishing a special themed edition, ‘Menopause in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs)’, in June 2025 that will span all aspects of menopause research in LMICs. The editor of Climacteric invites prospective authors to submit proposals for original research articles or systematic reviews and meta-analyses that cover this topic.

If you are interested in submitting a proposal, please could you send us the title of your article along with a brief summary (maximum 300 words) by midday (GMT) on 21st June 2024 using the attached form or link.  The completed form should be submitted by email to the editor of Climacteric, Dr Tim Hillard and both of the guest editors (all email addresses are provided below).

The editors will process all the proposals and select those they feel are most appropriate and of high quality. The authors of the accepted proposals will be sent a formal invitation along with details of how to submit their manuscript online. Acceptance of the proposal does not guarantee publication of the submitted article and all articles will undergo peer review in line with the editorial policies of Climacteric.

We look forward to your submissions
